"Monhegan: 20/21" features 20th and 21st century paintings of Monhegan Island, the famed art colony 13 miles off the coast of Maine. Early twentieth-century artists include Andrew Winter, Hayley Lever, and Paul Daugherty; mid-twentieth century modernists include James Fitzgerald, Joseph Solman, Alex Minewski, and Murray Hantman; and twenty-first century artists include Kevin Beers, Stephen Pace, and Lynne Drexler. A CONFERENCE OF BIRDS
Reception: First Friday, May 7, 5 to 8 PM
In Gleason Fine Arts first ever theme show, gallery painters and sculptors were asked to include birds in their submissions for "A Conference of Birds." From Bjorn Runquists gulls having a polite conversation, to Peter Sculthorpes outraged raven, David Witbecks quizzical seagulls, Jeff Barretts pop-eyed robins, and Don Meserves majestic owl of feathered basalt, avian and art lovers will have flocks of birds to enjoy. As an historic note, James Fitzgeralds seagulls and Leo Brooks gannet are also included.

In the fall of 2009, Firehouse Gallery, one of mid-caost Maines outstanding art venues, closed its doors. Gleason Fine Art decided to make "lemonade out of lemons" by inviting several of the displaced artists to join the gallerys roster. We are thrilled to announce that David Witbeck, Bill Irvine, Tom Curry, Henry Isaacs, John Neville, Jacob Cooley, and Jeff Barrett have all joined Gleason Fine Art.
