Mark Herrington

Mark Herrington sculpts and teaches in Franklin, Maine, a historic coastal community near Ellsworth. Mark is lifelong student of the creative process, and loves introducing new artists to granite sculpting as much as he loves practicing his own work. He is a self-taught stone artist, and continues to guest lecture at the University of Orono, where he studied philosophy. He’s had many group and solo shows, and his public sculptures are installed permanently in diverse locations, including the International Sculpture Trail that links Schoodic’s symposium with Saint John, N.B.’s. “It might surprise people to know that I began my artistic life making guitars,” says Mark. As an experienced stone artist and site manager, Mark’s diverse skill set and symposium experience are going to be widely appreciated.
